I Worry

Bookworm Jack

As my oldest son gets older, my worries have changed. I have no answers, only questions.

I thought as the kids got older, the worries would be easier (yes, I was delusional) but they certainly aren't. I can no longer control his behaviour (still delusional if I thinking I could ever control it). I can only give advice, even when unsolicited, and hope he makes the right decisions.

This learning curve is steep, I tell ya. And somehow I don't see it leveling off anytime soon.

Vodka anyone?

Me too. Big time. WHY DO THEY HAVE TO GROW UP AND BE THEIR OWN PERSONS?

I think all mothers worry. If you didn't, you'd be a bit strange. But I have to say that since I started therapy, I've learned to worry LESS. That's been a huge deal for me, as I'm naturally a pessimistic person, a worrier at heart. According to my mum, who is now 56, you NEVER stop worrying about your kids. She was pretty worried on Sunday when my sister decided to jump out of a perfectly good plane!!!

Hard job, being a mum/mom. We just have to hope that we've raised them well enough that they will make good choices, and learn life lessons from the bad ones.

I totally get where you're coming from, sister.

Cole asked me last week why I have wrinkles on my forehead - I told him they are worry lines
It only gets worse I'm sure.
Vodka straight up please!

You've already reached the giving advice chapter? Oh golly, I'm in trouble too. Hang in there Momma.

He's had enough wonderful guidance from you and J though so, I'm sure he's good. xoxo

So the take home message is that...we worry from the moment we know we are pregnant and then....forever! Ahh, so true so true.

OK, that is just rude, you are supposed to lie to the rest of us and tell us it gets easier - at least I would feel better, even if it's not true. I'm with you.
