Jack: How do babies form?
Jay: Well, there is an egg and a sperm that come together.
(me sitting there thinking uh oh, how do we handle this?!)
Jack: Did you say WORM?
If he only knew the truth! Thankfully for now, he was satisfied with knowing it was an egg and a sperm. But it's only a matter of time before he asks how the sperm gets to the egg.
Do you think he's too young to understand osmosis?

i am so glad that you have to go through this before me. blog on sister...blog on. i plan to learn from your wisdom!
soo funny, wait till he tells a pregnant lady."did you know a egg and a sperm....."
Oh my goodness, I just realized how mentally unprepared I am for this question. But since Jack is a couple of weeks older then Tyler (I think) then maybe I have some time!
Ha ha ha! "Did you say WORM?" too funny!
Haha!! :-D
I am VERY worried about this question. I pray it doesn't come for a long time, so I can think of a good answer!
wow I'm so not ready to field that question either. but they say honesty at a young age helps open the lines of communication for those fun conversations later on
I get that question all the time. I divert by saying that he will understand better when he is a big boy. For now this has held strong and I want to keep it that way just a little while longer.
I told Graham I will explain it to him when he is 16, and he said OK.
Oy...
This conversation would have gone SO much differently with Ben. He'd be all like, "So what's a sperm and where does it come from? blah, blah, blah" You're lucky he stopped when he did!
But I can't wait to find out what Jack's next question is! ; )
I'm....... just not ready for that conversation.
lol.
ha ha ha ha, I'm so laughing right now! but, also dreading that topic at my house... Yikes!
Ha, ha. Oh boy, not looking forward to that one.
"Worm" what a cutie!
I'm sticking with the stork story
until they're 18!
I've been waiting for my older one to ask me that question. I'm sure it will be when I'm dropping him off at preschool or some other place where a ton of people are standing around!
Love your blog! I am so dreading this conversation...
Worm - HA - how cute!
Now the fun begins - woo hoo!
Take care, Kami - see you - Kellan
Dying to know your response to that one. Maybe you can draw pictures. Put smiley faces on everything . . . smiley faces make everything better
:)
see?
Saw you over On the Flip Side. Love that site. Thought I'd drop by for a visit.
So... my son is going to need THE TALK soon. I need to start practicing. He is so analytical. I just know he'll ask some embarrassing question right in public--probably really loud too. I can imagine it now! Glad yours let it drop at sperm and egg.
Fun visit. I'll drop by later!
Oh, I thought I had commented on this but I guess it didn't take. I had to laugh at Natalie's comment. I don't envy you the uncomfortable position of having to explain things but I know it will all come out okay in the end. :)
