It's that time again...

For another Mother Earth update. If you are new to the Khlopchyk madness, you may not know that I double as a tree hugger. At least a wannabe tree hugger. I am not green by any stretch but I try do a little here and there to protect our beautiful planet for my dudes....

One thing that I am NOT good at it buying second hand. But I gave it go.

I hit the local consignment store the other day since Kamden had outgrown his ski pants. His jacket still fits perfect but he needed the pants for sledding and well to keep from freezing to death on our daily treks back and forth to drop Jack off at school (we walk.. around the corner... driving would be ridiculous) in the Artic temperatures that we experience here regularly.

Guess what?

We found some in 2 minutes for a whopping price of $7.99. AND they were on sale! Who knew consignment stores had sales? So for $6.39 we got a perfectly good pair of pants that are like new.

And upon zipping them up, Kamden declared, "They are perfect!"

And of course, being the shopaholic that I am, I had to check out the rest of the clothing for the dudes. Alas, look what I scored for Jack for a grand total of $10 (for the pants and shirt!):

A nice GAP sweater and Please Mum pants. That fit. It's quite the challenge finding pants for the kid who resembles a fence post.

Oh, and also, 6 year olds do NOT stand still for photo ops. And if they do they smile like this:

Awesome. At least it shows his adorable toothless grin.

And look what my other two boys surprised me with:

I found this photo just last night while flippping through the pics on the camera.

Love you guys too!

GREAT POST HOW YOU DOING TODAY?

Consignment stores, thrift stores, even Ross or Marshalls... I've found that you have to go in with an open mind and some time to burn. Sometimes there are no good finds, but often if given enough time, good stuff appears!

Unfortutely, I'm a speed shopper, and if nothing catches my eye in the first few minutes, I'm gone... ;)

(I want snow, by the way...)

I LOVE thrift shopping... probably 75% of what's in our house is from a thrift store or similar. It's so much fun and I love just finding what catches your eye instead of just what the store wants to sell this season.

I can't wait until we have snow here!

Have a great night!

Sounds like you got some great bargains!

Now that Ethan has a school uniform, I haven't had to buy any clothes! Tyler has plenty of hand-me-downs (in good condition) and Ethan doesn't need much since he wears the uniform 5 days/week.

I miss shopping for bargain clothing for my kids! I was good at it! LOL

Great deal!
Which store did you hit up?
I love second hand at this stage, they blow through clothes so quickly and the clothes just arent worth the regular full price.

What a cute pic in the tub. I love buying at the clothing sales. LOVE. IT. I always check there first for their winter wardrobes.

You got some great stuff! I'm very fortunate that my friend gives us all the clothes that her son outgrew.

Me commenting again...

I too had been looking for snow pants for Marin, and not wanting to spend a fortune. Then after reading your post I was duh...
I don't know why I didn't think of consignment stores earlier. Marin and I went this morning and found a great pair, and a whole lot more stuff, I got 12 things and spent $48! I am pretty pleased!

Such cute pictures! When my boys were little like yours I used to shop at a place called "Once Upon a Child", a re-sale shop. They had so many nice things that were barely worn, or as they put it "gently used", they were like brand new. Why not? It makes sense, and as you say, helps the world in the process. Yay!
