True Confession

I have to come clean. This has been in the skeleton in my closet for too long. I can't take the lying and the covering up anymore.

Here it is. My deepest dark secret.

But first, for comic relief since I can't handle the stress of this.

Soccer mom

Like my new uniform? Actually it's Kamden's. He's 6. I don't know what kind of glue the person was sniffing when they picked the sizes for an under 8 year old soccer team but clearly they need to upgrade. Kamden's whole team looks like a bunch of third world children that were kindly donated some used women's' soccer team uniforms. The shorts fit me for goodness sake. On him they are practically pants.

Okay, okay, there is no more putting this off. It's got to come out sooner or later, might as well bite the bullet. Which is kind of ironic, you will see later.

In the early to mid 90's I went through a country phase.

It wasn't just the sudden love of all things Reba and Garth. Oh no. I took it to a whole other level.

Wranglers. Belt buckle the size of a tea cup saucer. Roper boots (the tie up ones with tassels, oh yes indeed). And because no outfit comprised of these fashion mainstays would be complete without one, a western shirt.

Luckily for me, there is no photographic evidence of this dark period of my youth.

My only defense is that I actually did own a horse and I did ride regularly. Unfortunately, this defense does not cover the times I went to the bar decked out this paraphernalia.

Oh the crazy things we do in our youth.

Okay, I've cleaned out my closet. Now it's your turn. Lay it on me. What secrets are you hiding? It's time. Let it out.

And also be glad you aren't here.

Bah Humbug

Enough said.

This comment pulled me out of comment hibernation:

"Kamden's whole team looks like a bunch of third world children that was kindly donated some used women's soccer team uniforms."

I pulled myself off the floor laughing just so I could say something.

Oh no, not snow!! I can't fathom it, as we are heading into summer and it is finally HOT after a looooong winter (not anywhere as cold as yours, but pretty dreary all the same).

You look awesome in the soccer uniform - maybe you should play?! I can just see you on the field! I know what you mean about the sizes though. I've been able to fit all of Ethan's soccer shirts for the past 3 years ... they really must have NO clue about kid sizes! Thankfully we buy our own shorts so I make sure they are a proper size!!

Kaylie's soccer uniform was HUGE too. So dumb.

And that snow? I HATE IT. But only because it was unavoidable that I had to be out in it.

I can't think of a deep dark secret right now, but if I do, I'll let you know!

I thought you were going to tell us that you were playing soccer! HA! Which would be totally cool actually...

That's CRAZY about the uniform. And you look pretty darn good in it!

And... um... what IS that white stuff? ;P

Kamden's uniform while maybe oversized on him, looks pretty good on you.

And what's wrong with Reba? I just saw her in concert and she was awesome! Garth pre-Trisha was good, now not so much.

As for secrets, I used to wear pants...with stirrups. Rest assured I now wear pants, just pants. Well, and a shirt with understuff, but I mean normal pants.

I love that you tried on the soccer uniform...Was that as a Halloween potential costume or to check it's size or just for fun? Either way, sharing for sharing, I honestly thought you were going to confess you were a secret soccer fan or something. As for confessions...everyone is a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll. When I was 5 or 6 I used to dream of being a country music star...I'd put on ghost riders in the sky and belt it out. I wanted big hair and lots of sparkles. I grew out of the idea, but somehow still got some big hair in High School. :) oxox

The closest I ever came to country was a pair of suede cowboy boots I had when I was about 7 or 8. I thought I was the Sundance Kid. I actually cried when my mom made me throw them out.

Oh -- and please keep that white crap up there. My furnace is still out!

Methinks you should go as a soccer player for Halloween. ;)

SO NOT READY FOR SNOW HERE. Ever. :)

That uniform is RIDICULOUS. I thought my son's was bad this year, but that is BAAAAD!

Also, don't feel bad about the western phase... you do live in Saskatchewan after all (or did you then?). You must've blended in. I -on the other hand- went through a gothic/vampire phase (when vampires were NOT all the rage). I did not fit in, so much.

As for the snow... I'm going to enjoy this winter in Bogota and laugh at my Regina family with each blizzard!

You look awesome in that uniform. At least you have a Halloween costume now, lol.
Two-I too owned a pair of ropers and maybe some turquoise wranglers and probably, maybe some bad flannel shirts. I thought I was so cool.

You may have "cleaned" out your closet of these items but I still seem to have these items languishing in a closet in "my" house!! I just thought your readers should know the reality of it!!!

I do think Kamden's uniform would make an awesome Halloween costume...with a real scary mask...for you but NOT so-much a good uniform for the boy to play soccer in!!!

That uni looks fantastic on you and I love that it was meant for your 6 year old child! Seriously?

I was thinking about you when I heard about the snowstorm out your way... you can keep that snow for now, thank you very much.

And how cute are you in Kamden's soccer uniform - and crazy that you can wear it, yeah, what were they on when they chose those sizes? Boys do grow fast, but, not that fast!

And I think there's a little bit of country in most of us. I once owned a pair of cowboy boots a la Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. How very Asian of me, I know :)!

Oh I am glad I am not there. Although I have lived in Texas all my life I have never owned ropers or anything like them! Love your confession though. And the soccer uniform is just crazy.
