Do you know what women should not do to themselves?
More than anything else, we should not feel the need to try on bikinis.
Seriously.
What was I thinking?
I have had two children. I have stretch marks. I have an umbilical hernia. I have flab that I fully believe has nothing to do with my intake of chocolate and everything to do with the fact that my belly housed two babies to a final weight of around 8 lbs on two separate occasions.
So why, oh why do I feel the need to torture myself by thinking that I might, just might, be fit enough to don a bikini?
It might just be that my cousin, who has also birthed two babies looks amazing in one.
Damn her and her flat abdomen.
I really love her but DAMN! I envy her flat tummy!
Oh and especially?
Don’t try one on and then stand next to the aforementioned cousin.
Just don’t.
Go eat some chocolate instead. I know I am going to.
Oh and yes, I am PMSing. What's it to you?

Well, you know how my pre-Maui bikini escapade went...
LOL. I gave up on bikinis but I still like some of the two pieces that are out now - kinda like tankini tops and a more modest bottom than a bikini. Then I don't feel so bad. And can still eat chocolate. ;)
If you want to feel better I will stand next to you in a bathing suite and then you will be the damn skinny girl beside me ;-)
BTW you look greak Kami!
Do what I did last night - order it online.
No change rooms, no fluorescent lights...
And then make sure you drink enough margaritas while on holidays to actually wear the thing ;)
But honestly - you are HAWT. I'm sure you would look great in a bathing suit :)
It's all about being happy about ones body - Who cares about stretch marks - I have them and haven't got children.
Everyone is shaped differently and gains or loses weight differently... And everyone has a different aspect of their body they don't like... it is all perspective.
Think about why you are wearing the bathing suit. If it is because you are on a beach with your loving husband and 2 kids (with your parents beside you) as you've mentioned in previous posts - then - consider yourself lucky and enjoy you vacation, your body, and your health.
Life's too short to compare ourselves to others. And too short to be self conscious - if you're comfortable in it wear, if not, don't.
Ugh, trying on bathing suit is pain enough, let a lone bikinis.
I am sure it wasn't as bad as you think though. :)
I am too old to wear bikinis - but I still have been known to do it on occasion (not those string ones - but..). I think this is the summer I will have to rethink my wardrobe - I've been working up the courage to let the bikini go! Take care and have a great weekend Kami - see ya. Kellan
LOL I AGREE :)
Too funny...I have come to accept that this bod will never don a bikini again..yep, I'll gladly blame it on my 2 kiddos!
Great post!!
Having also birthed 2 babies that were over 8lb each, I have resigned myself to the fact that I will NEVER again wear a bikini. Not that I wore one much before I had kids, anyway! I'm a board short kinda girl!
You know, I gave this example to a guy friend recently (he's gay and will never see a woman's abdomen after babies, so I had to use my imagination): I told him, "YOU try blowing up a tiny little balloon to overfull in really really quick bursts of breath. Wait 6 months or so, and then deflate it rapidly. THEN, do this 2 more times, and you'll get a pretty good picture of what my stomach and boobs look like." He was laughing so hard, and I think he was thankful that he was gay....
Personally I think it's impressive that you even tried the bikini on and no I'm not being sarcastic.
Haa, ha,you are too funny! And awesome! You are so hot I am sure you would rock a bikini and are just hard on yourself.....hey, I did a post on stomachs and flab once, hmmm, I am off to find it and e-mail it to you:)
LOL! I am terrified to even think about bikini weather, but thank you for putting a bee in my bonnet as it will be time before I know it and I really, really want to swim in my pool this year ;).
Well, I give you props for even tryin' the dang thing on! I haven't been near one in YEARS! Besides, even if you are a skinny minny, those dressing room mirrors are like a freak show! *Shudder*
Just go and have a wonderful vacation, whatever type of suit you're wearing, that's the important thing!
Lizzy
lmao! don't let your cousin fool you, that tummy IS from the babies! she probably just has some pleasant genetic mutation that helped hers snap back :)
honey, I am sure it wasn't as bad as you think. HUGS
Here, here is some chocolate and a toast to forever being in one piece suits!
