Help! what do I do?

I just sat down to do something that I have put off for a long, long, long time. I was going to print out all the posts about each of my sons to put into a binder as a keepsake.

As I scrolled, and scrolled and scrolled some more, I realized, holy cow it will kill a forest.

Here's where you come in. What do you do about saving your posts as keepsakes? Are you keeping something tangible for your kids?

And while we are at it, what about your digital photos? Do you print them off regularly?

I used to but then the sheer volume was getting ridiculous to store so I stopped about 2 years ago. The thought of going back and sorting through them is about as appealing as sticking a fork in my eye repeatedly. But will I be able to access them in say, 20 years with the rate that technology is changing?

Any and all thoughts on either of these topics is welcome and encouraged!

Thanks for posting this Kami, I will be eagerly awaiting responses. It defeats the purpose of re using cups if you kill a tree ;-)

I store all my pics on our external hard drive from Costco. Holds TONS of stuff.
I make digital scrapbooks each year which mean I pick my favorite pics from each month, use Smilebox to pull together and print one time!
Otherwise if we want to look at pics, we plug the hard drive into the TV and slideshow it!

my plan for pictures and digi scraps is to burn them to dvd's by the year or two... so each boy will get a dvd for each year of their life. you could always do the same kind of thing and put the posts on a cd or something on that idea

I printed mine in a book from shutterfly.com. It takes a bit to put together, but it's totally worth it!

No thoughts--but now you've made me nervous.

I'm usually not bad about printing off our pics - I just do it online, through Future Shop and go pick them up a few days later. When I used to have more time, I'd do it myself at Shoppers. As for printing off blog posts, I don't think there is any other way... I think we just have print, bit by bit...

We usually print off our photos every 2 months or so. I'm pretty selective on what I print otherwise I'd be broke and all I'd have to show for it were a bunch of fuzzy pictures of my legs (thanks Beth). I sort the photos into an edited file for each month and then only print my favorites from there. It works out. I want to have albums of photos not rooms.

As for saving posts I'm in the same boat. I'm thinking I should just get a back up drive and keep them on there. Then the kids can plug it in and weed through what they want. I dunno, I also keep a hand writen journal for them both so I'm not sure how much they'll want the blog too.

I do photos through Shutterfly.

I haven't printed the blog, but there are services that do so :)

This thought gives me a little panic attack, so I live in denial that I need to backup my blog, save my post, upload and print my picture...what were we talking about? Summer? I love summer, sunny days, playing the pool...

yeah, I think I've seen a site that prints your blog into a book type thingy. Maybe I should think about that, however, I don't know if I really want them reading some of the stuff I post about. ;)

I'm in the same boat as you. Actually, as we speak I am sending an order of 400 pics to Costco to be printed. Talk about procrastonating! I also want to print off my posts about the boys. I guess I better get started before it becomes too much! Maybe it will remain on blogspot forever???

I have thought about printing the blog, but then I think of how much printing it would take! Maybe using Shutterfly would be a good way to do it. And maybe do a year at a time so it doesn't hurt so much.

As for photos, I do a run every now and then. But, I am terrible at getting them into albums, I should really work on that part of it.

I back up all the time, disc, hard drive, so as not to be lost when technology changes.

I do nothing. I take that back. I take lots and lots of pictures and then I download them to my computer. That got filled so now they're on an external hard drive. I really need some sort of other back up though. I do have a lot of them on Snapfish so that once in a blue moon I can order paper copies.

All I do is store my photos on an external hard drive. How I'd love to scrapbook and have cute albums to hold my memories, but I think I rather stick that fork in my eye. It's all so time consuming!
